Luis Gil graduated as an architect from ETSAM in 2000. As a student, he began collaborating at Frechilla Lopez-Pelaez Arquitectos, where he remained for twelve years before forming Plantea Estudio with Lorenzo Gil. In addition to this professional experience, he has continued his vocation for research and teaching, completing his PhD Cum Laude in 2016. Since 2013 he has been a professor of architectural projects at the Toledo School of Architecture. His texts and essays have been published in different books and specialized magazines, and he has lectured at the Schools of Architecture in Santiago de Chile and Naples.

Plantea is an architectural firm founded in 2012 by Lorenzo and Luis Gil, both architects from ETSAM. Their works, generally small and medium scale, cover a wide variety of programs. They have made children's schools, offices, restaurants, cafes and multipurpose spaces, always keeping an important part of their activity focused on the private home, and lately also in hotels. They have been published in numerous national and international media, and among them stands out the rehabilitation of the former Duque de Alba cinema, known as Sala Equis, which won the First Prize COAM for the best architectural work of 2018. In their day-to-day work, they try to balance knowledge and risk, technique and craftsmanship, past and future, without thinking about the success of the moment, but with the aim of building real places for real people.
