María Teresa Pérez Martín holds a PhD in Environmental Law from the University of Strasbourg. She is a Green Globe Auditor and holds the GSTC Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism. She has extensive experience as an international sustainability consultant, collaborating with organisations such as UN Environment and Leading Cities. She is a European Climate Pact Ambassador and the author of the 360º Guide to Sustainable Cities.
She is the founder and Managing Director of LIDENEX, a regenerative tourism project located in the Extremaduran dehesa, within the Natura 2000 Site. Through this initiative, she works to demonstrate how hospitality can actively contribute to restoring nature, protecting biodiversity, and creating value for local communities and the wider territory.
Her experience combines the practical implementation of sustainability at LIDENEX with the assessment of international standards, bringing a rigorous, independent perspective focused on transforming tourism through management, design, and the guest experience.
LIDENEX is a regenerative tourism project located in a dehesa landscape in northern Extremadura, within the Natura 2000 Network. For more than twenty years, it has welcomed families and groups to an environment defined by silence, thriving nature and a deep connection with the land. Its approach combines hospitality with biodiversity conservation. LIDENEX works to ensure that tourism contributes to regenerating the dehesa, restoring habitats, protecting the landscape and creating local value. Its spaces, designed to coexist harmoniously with their surroundings, offer birdwatching, wildlife photography, stargazing, health and wellness experiences, retreats, and activities that allow guests to discover and participate in ecosystem regeneration. LIDENEX is a member of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. It also holds the Starlight Accommodation Certification, recognising the quality of its night skies and its commitment to conservation, while turning every stay into a purposeful experience with a positive impact.
