Javier Sánchez is an architect, trained at the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSA Madrid), and a visual artist. Since his university years, he has viewed spatial design as a tool capable of transforming the built environment and contributing to improving people’s lives—an approach that continues to shape his professional career.

For over eight years, he has worked in teaching and academic management across different design schools and for the past three years, he has been responsible for the Academic Coordination of the Master’s programmes within the Design area at IED Madrid, combining teaching with the leadership and development of educational projects and the creation of academic, cultural, and design-related initiatives.

His profile lies at the intersection of architecture, design, education, and artistic practice, understanding design as a tool for reflection, transformation, and the creation of new ways of relating to and engaging with our environment.

The Istituto Europeo di Design, IED Madrid, is a cutting-edge design college. It specialises in the fields of Fashion, Graphic, Interior and Product Design.

IED Madrid is the IED Group’s first campus in Spain, opened in 1994. With more than three decades of experience, it has consolidated its position as a reference in design education and promotion in the capital. Its academic model now integrates areas such as craftsmanship and digital technologies, cultural diversity and urban sustainability.

From the IED Madrid classrooms, work is guided by the ‘Design x Transformation’ vision; the conviction that design has the power to bring about transformation in the perspectives and outlook of our students, in businesses, in industries and in society.

IED Madrid engages, dialogues and collaborates with leading institutions and companies, forging links that weave together the capital’s cultural and economic network.
