Diana Aguilar Jiménez is a Technical Architect and Graduate in Building Engineering, and Head of the Building Permits Department at Madrid City Council, with 18 years of experience in construction licensing. She works within the Directorate-General for Building (Dirección General de la Edificación), the municipal body driving MADRIDdbp, the future digital building permits platform that positions Madrid among the leading European cities in licensing automation. In recent years she has fully embraced innovation, training in BIM and artificial intelligence applied to architecture and building: a BIM Expert postgraduate degree from UPM, a Master's in BIM Project Methodology and Management (UPM-ETSAM), and specialised AI training. She is also currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. She champions BIM, GIS and AI as tools to do what we already do better, and to help public administration keep ensuring that things are built well.
