Carlos Lamela (Madrid, 1957) graduated as an architect from the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM) in 1981 and later completed postgraduate studies in design at the Università dell’Arte in Florence (1983–1984). He joined Estudio Lamela in 1985 as Project Director and has served as Co-founder and Executive Chairman since 1991. Throughout his career, he has combined architectural practice with extensive academic and institutional activity as a guest lecturer, speaker, and member of various boards and organisations related to architecture and urban planning. He has served on the juries of numerous architecture awards, his work has been featured in a wide range of specialised publications, and he has received national and international recognition for his contribution to architecture.
Estudio Lamela is an architectural practice with 70 years of experience, having completed more than 2,000 projects across 32 countries. Headquartered in Madrid, with offices in Los Angeles, Poland, Mexico and the Netherlands, the practice works across a wide range of building typologies, including airports, office buildings, residential developments, hotels, stadiums and healthcare facilities. Its work has received more than thirty national and international awards and has been widely featured in leading architectural publications. Notable projects include Terminal 4 at Madrid-Barajas Airport, Warsaw Chopin Airport, Centro Canalejas Madrid, the Airbus Campus, MADNUM, Málaga Towers and the renovation of Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. Estudio Lamela is currently developing projects across Europe and the Americas, including residential developments, Four Seasons hotels, airport infrastructure and public facilities.
