He holds a degree in History and a Master’s in Human Resources Management, and was born into a family that has been dedicated to pottery for generations (Cerámica Negra de Llamas del Mouro). About eight years ago, he began developing his own ceramic line. It has been a rapid journey that culminated in receiving the National Crafts Award in its most recent edition. His work has been exhibited in Europe, the USA (Los Angeles), South Korea (Cheongju), and in permanent exhibitions in Spain (Tado Madrid). He also conducts artistic residencies and specialized wheel-throwing courses aimed at interior designers and architects, focusing on mutual learning and the development of synergies through designing from scratch and creating pieces that best adapt to demanding spaces. Additionally, he develops projects under Art Nómada, using ceramics as a therapeutic tool with unconventional users, such as babies, the elderly, and people with diverse abilities.
Raúl designs his pieces from scratch and creates reinterpretations of traditional forms. He works with locally sourced materials and places special emphasis on the textures of his pieces. These textures are achieved through multiple texturizing processes and a strict respect for drying times. He often uses unconventional and challenging clays, which allow him to experiment with disobedience and push the material to its limits. Approximately 70% of his pieces break at some point during the process.
