Can spaces evolve at the same pace as the way we live, connect and work? This workshop explores spatial flexibility not only as a functional solution, but as a tool for sustainability and social transformation.
In the first, introductory part of the session, Rocío Pina will present the work of ENORME Studio, along with a selection of projects, case studies and references that show how design can foster meaningful social interaction, encourage collective appropriation and accommodate uses that have yet to be imagined. We will explore strategies such as adaptability, mobility, indeterminacy, participation and open-system design, applying them to the hospitality sector.
In the second part, participants will work in teams through a co-design exercise. Each group will be challenged to rethink an iconic hospitality space in Madrid, applying the tools and strategies introduced during the session. The aim will be to transform a familiar, seemingly established space into one that is more flexible, inclusive and participatory, and capable of responding to different people, moments and ways of using it.
The workshop will conclude with a short presentation of the proposals and a collective reflection on how hospitality can evolve from designing fixed environments towards creating open infrastructures for connection, care and transformation.
