Toni Gironès Saderra has directed his own architecture practice in Barcelona since 1993. He graduated in Architecture from ETSAV in 1992 and received his PhD in Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) in 2016. His professional and academic work has developed in parallel, focusing on the relationship between architecture, place, resources, and ways of inhabiting.
He has taught at ETSAV and at the School of Architecture of Reus (URV), where he served as Head of Architecture Studies and later as Coordinator of the Architecture programme. Since 2020, he has been a Senior Lecturer at URV and has collaborated with several international universities.
His work has received numerous national and international distinctions, including FAD Awards, recognitions at the Spanish and Ibero-American Architecture Biennials, the Gold Medal of the Premio Internazionale DOMUS, and the 2019 Spanish Architecture Award.
His architecture explores mediation between the built environment and nature, revealing and enhancing the material, environmental, cultural, and temporal conditions of each place.

Estudi Toni Gironès is an architecture practice that understands architecture as a mediator and a support for human activity, seeking to enhance the qualities and potential of each place.
The studio believes that much of a place’s habitability is already inherent in its existing conditions. Its projects seek to recognise, consolidate and activate what is essential, responding to climate, time and everyday use.
This approach often results in low-budget, context-driven interventions that value and transform what already exists. The design process itself becomes a form of architecture, based on careful observation, experience and engagement with the existing environment.
The studio’s work extends beyond the conventional building, addressing the relationship between human habitation, territory and the planet as our shared home and common heritage.
Estudi Toni Gironès is interested in an architecture rooted in lived experience rather than predetermined strategies: an architecture conceived from within, experienced from within, and ultimately understood as both emotion and thought.
