Javier Jiménez Iniesta graduated in Architecture from the Alicante School of Architecture, where he received the highest honors in 2007. His final degree project received several national and international awards, including the Pasajes-Iguzzini Award for Best National Project.
He was awarded an Arquia Scholarship and moved to Barcelona to collaborate with Carme Pinós’ studio. In 2014, he founded Studio Animal.
He combines his professional practice with teaching and academic research. He is a professor at IE in Madrid. He has also served as Programme Leader of the Master’s in Creative Direction of Retail at Istituto Europeo di Design, as a visiting professor at Elisava School of Design, and as a Global Community Professor at the School of Architecture in Monterrey, Mexico.
Studio Animal deals with the development of proposals related to ultra-contemporary thinking and its relationship to the environment in which we live in. The redefinition of spaces and atmospheres inhabited by the contemporary subject, is the backbone of their work; in pursuit of a super-optimistic future for the potential inhabitants of their architectural designs. Studio Animal moves from the small scale of industrial design to the planning and development of a brand´s image and the integral design of spatial proposals; progressively specializing in the design of all types of interior spaces and offering custom designed projects to each client, always under an architectural approach.
Studio Animal has been honored with the 2023 FAD Award for Ephemeral Interventions and the 2024 FAD Award for Interior Design, as well as the 2024 ROOM Award for Ephemeral Architecture, the National Interior Design Award DIN 2025 and the FRAME Award 2024. It has also been selected for the last two Spanish Biennials of Architecture and Urbanism and the CSCAE Architecture Awards, as well as for the biannual Arquia Próxima Awards, emerging as the winner in the latest edition. It also received an Honorable Mention at the 2024 ASCER Awards, a Mention at the 2023 COAM Awards, the Pasajes-Iguzzini Award, a Bronze Award at the ADG Laus Awards, the Emporia de Oro Award, and the International Media Award in China.
Studio Animal’s work has appeared in numerous renowned national and international publications, such as Domus, OnDiseño, Detail, AD, Diseño Interior, Manera, Abitare, Icon Design, Neo2, Interiors Korea, AIT, Maru China, El País Semanal, Proyecto Contract, Casa Viva, Bob Magazine, Dramática, Vanidad, ANShopfitting, Room, Arquitectura Viva, and Frame.
