Ignasi Fontcuberta is an architect and cofounder of Estudi BIGA and ELIA. He previously developed a significant part of his professional career at OAB in Barcelona and SOM in Chicago.
He has combined professional practice with teaching in architecture, as Associate Professor at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and UIC Barcelona School of Architecture.
His experience spans national and international projects at very different scales, from concept design through development and construction.
Estudi BIGA is a Barcelona based architecture and design practice working across architecture, interior design and landscape.
The studio approaches each project through a strong sensitivity to context, combining contemporary design, materiality and technical rigour to create spaces with a clear identity and a lasting relationship with their surroundings.
Working from the scale of the territory to architectural detail, BIGA develops projects where architecture and interiors are conceived as part of the same experience, with particular attention to spatial quality, atmosphere, materials and the way spaces are lived and inhabited.
