Simon Caspersen is co-founder of SPACE10, IKEA's external research and design lab, which has become one of the world's most recognized innovation platforms. In his role, Simon set the overall direction for positioning SPACE10 on the global design scene, developing its vision and fostering an ever-growing community of experts, creatives and specialists from around the world. Simon operates at the intersection of strategy, storytelling and design, with a passion for addressing the accelerating climate crisis while creating a better everyday life for many more people. Simon currently works as a creative and strategic advisor to a select number of brands and organizations, including the United Nations.
SPACE10 was IKEA's external research and design lab based in Copenhagen, Denmark. It operated from 2015 to 2023 and functioned as a platform to explore and create new solutions that could enable a better everyday life for people and the planet. SPACE10 focused on areas such as the circular economy, decentralized clean energy solutions, architecture, digital manufacturing, food innovation and a wide range of advanced technologies such as AI, blockchain and AR. The lab's initiatives and projects resulted in prototypes, exhibitions and open source designs that inspired and influenced both IKEA and the wider design community.
