Aldo Sollazzo is an Italian entrepreneur and technologist, expert in robotics, computer vision and computational design. Since 2011, he is the CEO of Noumena, a company focused on data analytics that implements computer vision and machine learning to analyze spatial dynamics. He is also a director of PURETECH, focused on sustainable materials-driven technology, and LAMÁQUINA, a large-scale 3D printing company. In 2017, he founded the Master in Robotics and Advanced Construction at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia in Barcelona, of which he was director from its inauguration until this year. In 2019, he received from the President of the Italian Republic the title of Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy, in recognition of his scientific and technological work. Aldo has been an invited speaker at conferences such as the European Conference on Computer Vision and TEDx Barcelona.
Large-scale 3D printing is establishing itself as an advanced technology in architecture and interior design, offering significant advantages such as mass customization and design flexibility. This enables the creation of complex architectural elements and custom parts that are difficult to achieve with conventional methods. LAMÁQUINA is incorporating recycled and eco-friendly composite material solutions along with Puretech technology, which helps absorb greenhouse gases, reducing the carbon footprint of construction projects and contributing to sustainable development goals. Located in Barcelona, LAMÁQUINA uses advanced techniques and sustainable materials to revolutionize the sector. Its work demonstrates how this technology enables complex geometries and promotes sustainability, fusing technological innovation with environmental awareness. Engineering is essential to ensure efficiency and precision, optimizing designs to minimize material waste and prevent deformation.
