Born in Aranda de Duero, Burgos, she is a trained journalist who has built her career in communication and marketing, particularly in the wine sector. In parallel, and as a personal project, she co-founded Kolmö Lighting with Alfredo Benito: a design studio where they handcraft lighting pieces using natural stone, wood, and corten steel. Alfredo is a designer and the hands that bring each piece to life. At Kolmö, Sheila combines her communication expertise with a deeply personal aesthetic sensitivity, giving voice to the project and sharing the story behind each creation. She is especially interested in the relationship between light, material, and space, and how design can create warm, intimate, and livable atmospheres. A lover of travel, architecture, design, and new cultures, she finds in Kolmö a way to connect with others through what moves her.

Studio specialized in the design and creation of handcrafted lighting pieces. Our home-workshop is located in Aranda de Duero, where we work with noble materials such as Campaspero limestone, alabaster, marble, and phyllite. In each of them, we seek texture, the trace of time, the matter that speaks. Every piece is designed and crafted through a slow and precise artisanal process. The light we project does not aim to dominate, but to accompany. We are drawn to that indirect light that grazes, suggests, and transforms the space without invading it. Our collection also includes sculptural pieces that, even when not illuminated, remain present. Even in the shadows—something essential to us—they continue to have voice, form, and weight. We believe in a design that listens to the material and the surroundings, that respects rhythms and doesn’t force gestures. This is how each Kolmö piece is born: with character, with stillness, and with the intention to inhabit without noise.
