Maria is an architect (ETSA Barcelona) and a master's in design management (IE Business School + RCA London). After several years working as an architect-designer, in early 2014, she entered the product design and business world, attracted by the challenge of combining digital design tools with craftsmanship. Since then, she has led Atelier MEL, a multidisciplinary team of design professionals working at the intersection of design and art to conceptualize and materialize complex art installations. Based in Barcelona, Atelier MEL today develops projects worldwide.
Since early 2014 Atelier MEL has been devoted to creating unique artworks at the intersection of artistry and digital design technology. Based in Spain, its multidisciplinary team of designers and craftsmen work hand in hand to create exclusive art installations on projects worldwide. In its beginnings, Atelier MEL, embarked on a deep study of artisan glass techniques to create a set of modular collections of three-dimensional illuminated mosaics. This was the first step towards developing the capability to conceptualize, design, and build unique art pieces in a great variety of materials. As experts in geometry and manufacturing, Atelier MEL collaborates with architects and interior designers to close the process chain that links a complex art concept to its materialization reaching new heights of creativity, efficiency, and quality.
