Gabriela Sagarminaga studied Fashion Design at Inedi, continued her education at Central Saint Martins in London, and completed a Master's in Marketing Management at ESIC Barcelona. After working for fashion brands, she embarked on the project "Da un Giro," traveling through Latin America to document initiatives that blend creativity and sustainability.

Her passion for social innovation led her to Medellín, where she worked as a researcher at Inspiralab, developing innovation models in collaboration with local communities. Upon returning to Bilbao, she began an investigation into traditional craft techniques and their connection to place, which culminated in a residency at Medialab Prado in Madrid, where she discovered esparto, a fiber deeply rooted in Spanish culture.

Today, through Sagarminaga Atelier, she creates pieces that bridge tradition and modernity, collaborating with luxury hotels such as Hilton, Experimental Group, and Fuerte Group.

Sagarminaga Atelier is a creative studio and a contemporary craft workshop specializing in installations for brands and hotels, set design, and high-end décor. We work with premium natural materials such as esparto grass, a traditional fiber harvested in the south of Spain. Long before the advent of plastic, this material was used to shape a wide array of everyday objects. Today, we reimagine its potential, shaping singular pieces that fuse artisanal tradition with contemporary sensibility.

We collaborate closely with architects, interior designers, and private clients, tailoring each project to its specific needs. Our multidisciplinary team explores the full potential of natural fibers through techniques like weaving, molding, and dyeing to create atmospheres that blend beauty with environmen- tal responsibility. Rooted in craftsmanship, our approach is both innovative and experimental, resulting in designs that are contemporary and timeless.
