Co-founder and Managing Director of Nagami Robotic 3D Design and Printing, co-founder of Automated Architecture Ltd (AuAr), a London-based robotic assembled housing design technology company, and founder and director of madMdesign, a London-based computational design company. He is also co-founder of UCL AUAR Labs and curator of the Plexus conferences. For more than a decade, Manuel has developed projects focusing on computational design, automation and sustainable construction methods, especially large-scale 3D printing with recycled plastics. His work is part of the permanent collection of the Centre Pompidou (Paris), and has been exhibited all over the world, such as the Victoria & Albert Museum (London), or Canada's Design Museum (Toronto). He is also Associate Professor of Architecture at The Bartlett School of Architecture UCL, director of the MSc/MRes Architectural Computing programme, and unit master of AD-RC4.
Nagami explores the future of digital design and manufacturing in a new technological era. Founded in Ávila (Spain) in 2016 by Manuel Jiménez García, Miguel Ángel Jiménez García and Ignacio Viguera Ochoa, the company brings 3D printing and robotic manufacturing to large-scale products, with a wide range of customisation possibilities. It pushes the boundaries of imagination into uncharted territory, which can challenge technology to create innovative projects. Research and innovation are at the heart of its work, developed in collaboration with internationally renowned architects, designers and artists such as Zaha Hadid Architects, Ross Lovegrove, as well as emerging talents, who can embrace new technologies to materialise innovative products. The Company's vision is to bring the wide range of possibilities that new technologies can offer to the field of design and architecture, and to explore new technologies.
