Born in the UK, this “baby boomer” originally embarked on an electrical apprenticeship, moved into the shipping industry for 16 years, and left the shores of England in 1991.

After a one-year holiday trip in Zimbabwe, Namibia and South Africa, Rob settled in Cape Town, later moving to his own farm in Kwa Zula Natal.

Further education and a qualification in the South African electrical industry, then, even more education via distant learning in Facilities Management.

Rob assisted facilities in education, next, into retail, by joining the largest shopping centre in the Southern Hemisphere.

In 2004, he was appointed as the chief engineer/maintenance and facilities manager of a world-famous hotel where he worked for 12 years, his brief included the groups other African properties.

The “baby boomer” turned sixty and he went into private consulting for the hospitality industry.

In 2017, Rob penned his first handbook, “technical Facilities Management in the Southern Hemisphere”

Rob’s published handbook/reference bible or whatever one wants to call it may well be the foundation into education for the unskilled young labour market in South Africa.

Rednaif and Associates was founded in 2016 by Rob Fiander.

Having spent over 25 years in the Engineering Profession managing multi-million Dollar projects across Hospitality, Retail, Educational Facilities, and Agriculture.

For the last 13 years Rob has been extensively involved in 5 Star hotel engineering.
